Understand[edit]

Maluk is a pleasant town with good seafood and a very relaxing beach located below a spectacular headland. A few years back it received a lot of attention and international visitors due to the construction of a mine on the nearby mountains.

Get in[edit]

From Lombok it is possible to catch a DAMRI air conditioned bus directly to Maluk from the Mendelika Bus Station in Mataram at 10 AM, including the ferry crossing.

From other locations in Sumbawa, a bus change in Taliwang (1 to 1.5 hours to the north), might be necessary. Buses from Sumbawa Besar heading to Taliwang may also stop at Poto Tano (ferry port) to pick-up more passengers.

Sleep[edit][add listing]

There are a few accomodation options including: Kiwi Bar and Tropical.

Get out[edit]

Other destinations in Sumbawa can be reached from the bus terminal, north of the city (5,000 rp motorbike taxi). Most buses/bemos departing from Maluk towards the north-east will stop in Taliwang where a bus change might be necessary. From Taliwang, you can be dropped off at Poto Tano for ferries to Lombok by request, as Poto Tano is a short drive from the road junction. Buses head east towards Sumbawa Besar where you another change might be necessary to reach other destinations.

  • Lombok: A DAMRI office in town sells tickets direct A/C mini buses to Mataram. There are two departures per day (June 2014)
