Makassar, also known as Ujung Pandang, is the capital of South Sulawesi province and the largest city on the island of Sulawesi, Indonesia.

Hasanuddin International Airport (IATA: UPG) is located 20 km from Makassar and has flights to Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Denpasar, Banjarmasin, Balikpapan, Kendari, Palu, Manado, Gorontalo, Ambon, Ternate, Manokwari, Sorong, and Jayapura. Also to Kuala Lumpur via Air Asia starting 25 July 2008. Fares start at about 500,000 Rp on Lion Air from Denpasar. A taxi to the city should cost about 70,000 Rp if arranged directly with the driver. The official airport charge is 100,000 Rp.

Losari Beach, a beachfront just on the side of the road. A very nice sunset view. There's a culinary festival everynight over there Fort Rotterdam, old fortress from colonial age Pulau Khayangan, an island 20 minutes away by small boat from makasar.
