Macchiwara

Macchiwara is a city in indian state of Punjab.Though only a small town in Ludhiana district it grew to importance when sikh guru Guru Gobind Singh Ji visited this place and slept in the jungles of Macchiwara while fighting the Mughal Forces in December 1705.

Understand[edit]

This town or as would apply for rest of Punjab is only for tourists interested in history, culture and religion and you would be bored if looking for cosmopolitan culture. It has a great local punjabi culture with a Gurudwara that now nestles on the place where guruji slept. Forests have largely disappeared now.

Macchiwara is a town well connnected by roads froma all sides of Punjab although there is no rail link and the nearest rail or air link is Ludhiana.It has direct road link from Samrala originating from Chandigarh.
