[edit] By train
Paddington Station is the London terminal for trains traveling from the following cities in the south west of the country: Swansea, Cardiff, Newport, Swindon, Plymouth, Exeter, Bristol and Bath, and also for trains from Reading and Oxford.
[edit] By Tube
Paddington mainline station is served by no less than 3 sets of Tube lines, each with their own platforms inside the station complex:
- Paddington (District Line, Circle Line)
- Paddington (Bakerloo Line)
- Paddington (Hammersmith & City Line)
Beyond Paddington itself, a number of other Tube stations make access to this district convenient:
- Bayswater (District Line, Circle Line)
- Queensway (Central Line)

While there's not a great deal to see in the way of traditional visitor attractions, Paddington makes a convenient base for exploring other parts of the city.

One surprisingly good pub in the area is the Mad Bishop and Bear, which is situated in Paddington Station itself (go to The Lawn eating area, and up the escalators to the top floor). It's a Fullers pub, serving well-kept real ales. It's in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide. Breakfast is served from opening (9am Mon-Fri, 7:30am Sat, 10am Sun) until noon; standard pub food is served at other times.

- Quality Crown Hotel Paddington, 144 Praed Street, Paddington,+44 207 706 8888, [6], [7]. The Quality Crown Hotel Paddington is an amazing value for the price. Sure the rooms are tiny, but that's where the resemblance to other London hotels ends. The rooms are immaculate, the plumbing is perfect, the decor is beautiful, and the fitness room is brand new. To top it all off the staff is helpful and friendly. It would be hard to find a better hotel value in the UK. 70/120 singles/doubles.
- Quality Crown Hotel Hyde Park, 8-14 Talbot Square, London W2 1TS,+44 207 262 6699, [8], [9]. I stayed when the Quality Crown Hotel Hyde Park had just been awarded 4 stars and this beautiful blend of classic yet contemporary English town house style hotel really deserves it ! The hotel and the staff are very welcoming and you really have the feeling that this is your home in London. The location is in a very quiet garden square but still just 3 or 4 minutes walk from Paddington Stations (Heathrow Express and tubes) and a similar walk from Hyde Park and Lancaster Gate. Stroll down to the Italian Gardens in Hyde Park in early evening - there's nothing quite like it in central London that I have found. Despite the 4 stars and the superb decor, this hotel is quite affordable, with the very best deals through its own web site.
- Royal Norfolk Hotel, 25 London Street, London, W2 1HH, [10]. The conversion of two Edwardian London terraced houses into one 60-en suite room hotel located at Norfolk Square and London Street in Sussex Gardens, an affluent residential area close to Hyde Park.
