Most people in Limburg speak Dutch, with standard pronunciation. English, German, French and Limburgish (a regional language) are also spoken although not (fluently) by everyone.

- Maastricht/Aachen Airport [[1]] is a regional airport located near Maastricht. Currently, there are daily scheduled flights to Amsterdam.
- Brussels' Zaventem Airport can be reached in an hour from Mid- and South-Limburg.

The Dutch railway serves Limburg with regional branches and intercity-branches to Amsterdam and The Hague. German railway links connect Heerlen to Aachen and Venlo to Mönchengladbach by local trains. Maastricht is connected to Liege in Belgium by local train.

The picturesque southern part of the province, Heuvelland, is very popular with bikers. Be warned that the terrain is very hilly by Dutch standards.

Limburg is quite densely populated, which means crime is also quite common. Especially drug-related crimes due Limburg's location on the German and Belgian border are widespread. If you do not seek contact with drug trafficers however, the province of Limburg is a relative safe province within the Netherlands
