Leukerbad is a mountain spa resort town in Switzerland. Situated in a valley high in the alps (4596 feet) and surrounded by rugged tall cliffs and waterfalls, it is a beautiful quiet place to stay and much cooler than valley locations in summer. Leukerbad is also central to and within 2-3 hours of the major Swiss alps tourist destinations such as the Matterhorn, the UNESCO World Heritage List Jungfrau-Aletsch-Bietschhorn region including the Aletsch glacier and Jungfraujoch (top of Europe). There are two trams up from Leukerbad providing great views of the alps.
 Get in
 By train
Trains arrive in the lower town with buses leaving hourly for the upper town and spas.
 By bus
Buses run up the valley into Leukerbad about every 15 minutes. The roads are very windy. Not recommended for those that get motion sick.
 By car
While not necessary a rental car makes it easy to get around to the many close trams and trains to the high alps. Resorts in Leukerbad have private parking with pay parking in town fairly limited. The drive up from the valley is beautiful and the windy roads are fun.
 On foot
The adventurous can hike into Leukerbad over the Gemmipass from Kandersteg.
 Get around
The Ring Jet bus does a circuit around the town every 30 minutes.
