Le Puy en Velay is in Haute-Loire in the Auvergne.

By train from Lyon: train station Lyon Part-Dieu. The train passes through beautiful scenery of the Massif Central.

On foot or by the little train which leaves from Place de Breuil.

La Cathedral Notre Dame, UNESCO world heritage; the Cloisters; La Chapelle St Michele D'Aiguilhe, perched on top of a volcanic rock - about 160 steps. Eglise du College, Baroque masterpiece.

See the view from Statue N.Dame de France. The statue was made from Russian canons. Walk part of the Chemin St Jaques de Compostella, route GR 65 as Le Puy is one of the starting places for the pilgrimage.

Lace, traditionally very important. Used by John Francis Regis, as a means to rehabillitate abused girls.

Cafe Brasserie du Palais 27 Pl de Breuil. Crepes and snacks at the cafe in the beautiful gardens (right next to the museum undergoing refurbishment)

Appart Hotel des Capucins, rue St-Jaques. Has a range of rooms from dorms to self-catering. Very clean, mordern and stylish decor. Breakfast a bit expensive.
