Kruger National Park/Balule

Balule Rest Camp is in Kruger National Park. It is a sattelite camp of Satara, and offers a very rustic bush camp with little luxury, but a lot of bush romance. Balule camp is located on the banks of the Olifants River and it will suit you best if you are prepared for self catering, and if a you are happy to share a communal kitchen.

Be warned that there is no electricity at Balule. Although lanterns are provided, it is recommended that you bring a torch!

The camp is located in the middle of the KNP, first head to the Olifant camp where you check in and then drive 11 km to get to the Balule camp.

Note: Day visitors are not allowed in Balule camp.

  • Balule camp has excellent viewing for hippopotamus and elephants, and there is a large lion pride nearby, which is regularly observed.
  • Day and night game drives can be arranged.

  • Guided walks - Track rhinos, elephants and lions on foot with trained guides from the camp.

There are no shops in Balule camp.

There is a communal kitchen with freezer, but there are no places where you can buy food. There are facilities for doing a Braai (bbq).

  • Tents - R110 pppn based on up to 2 people sharing. There is a maximum of 6 people per tent. Additional adults are R38,00, children R19,00. Linen is provided.
