Krakow : Nowy Swiat
Nowy Swiat is a part of Krakow in Poland. It is in the district Centrum north west of the Old Town.
[edit] Understand
In the Middle Ages, the houses of the Nowy Swiat (Nowy Swiat meaning "New World") were made of wood and poorer craftsmen lived there. The Royal Mills Creek (Mlynowka Krolewska) was flowing there until the 19th century. As the name suggest several mills have been there in the Middle Ages. There are a lot of fine 19th century houses (especially along the Pilsudski Street), three beautiful churches, two monasteries, the Vistula Boulevards and university buildings in this part of town.
