The Knowledge Corridor [1] is an urban region of New England that surrounds the principal cities of Hartford and Springfield.
The region is known for its high concentration of colleges and universities. It features the second-highest concentration of higher learning institutions in New England (behind Greater Boston) and one of the five highest concentrations in the United States. It is New England's second-most-populous urban area, featuring 1.9 million people, 120,000 college students, and 29 colleges and universities.
