Kirklees is a metroplitan district in West Yorkshire. It was created in the 1970s as one of five metropolitan regions, (the three cities above and Calderdale being the others) in what was then a new metropolitan county of West Yorkshire. It's largest towns are Huddersfield and Dewsbury but it also includes Holmfirth (made famous by the BBC series 'Last of the Summer Wine) and a number of other villages. Further information should be under these.
