Enontekiö [1] is a large, mountaineous municipality in Finnish Lapland.

Enontekiö airport [2] is situated near the main village of Hetta. Currently it is only served by Finncomm airlines [3].

Usually people arrive to Enontekiö by car, either from the south or from the nearby neighbouring countries, Norway and Sweden.

Practically there are two ways to get around in these parts of Finland. Either by your own car or by bus, which runs one or two times every day from Rovaniemi.

[edit] Kilpisjärvi area
- Kilpisjärvi [5] is a small village on the top of Finland's "arm" and it's the only real alpine village in Finland. Many important sights are located in Kilpisjärvi or nearby. Kilpisjärvi is served by regular busses from Rovaniemi and by line taxi from Hetta. There are several accommodation services [6] in the village including camping area, cottages and a hotel.
- Halti is with its 1328m the highest mountain of Finland. It's a popular destination among hikers and it's only possible to reach by foot. It's situated some 50 km north from the nearest village Kilpisjärvi.
- The mountain Saana is, like Halti also a popular destination among hikers. Saana has got an unmistakeable profile and it's situated just a few kilometres from Kilpisjärvi.
- The Three Border Point (Kolmen valtakunnan pyykki) is the place where national borders of Finland, Sweden and Norway collide. It is located in Golddaluokta, about 20 kilometers from Kilpisjärvi. Place is reachable by boat or hiking.
