Killaloe is a town in County Clare.

Killaloe is a large village in east County Clare. It lies on the River Shannon on the west side of Lough Derg. It is linked to its 'twin town' Ballina, County Tipperary by the Killaloe Bridge. It is an ideal place to stop off for a few hours or to use as a base to explore Lough Derg and other areas.

Get in[edit]

The main access road is the M7. Follow the R494 from there. From Limerick follow the R463.

Get around[edit]

The town itself is compact. Any journeys to outlying regions would require a car.

The Bridge - the historical bridge that joins Killaloe and Ballina dates back to the 11th century.

St Flannan's Cathedral - early medieval Cathedral. The current building dates from the 13th century.
