Kansk (Russian: Канск kahnsk) is a city in the east of the Krasnoyarsk Region, Siberia, Russia.


Kansk was founded in 1628. It has a population of approximately 100,000 people. The economy is based on several industries, with coal being the primary industry.

The nearest major airport is 200km away, near Krasnoyarsk.

All Trans-Siberian trains stop at Kansk, which is 4,343km from the Moscow commencement point.

Train timetables and fares can be found on the RZD website; enter "KANSK-ENISEISKII" as the station for Kansk. There are several daily trains to Krasnoyarsk (3.5 hours, RUB560-1,800), Moscow (66 hours, RUB3,600-10,000), Irkutsk (14 hours, RUB1,000-7,000), Novosibirsk (16 hours, RUB1,200-6,400), Ulan-Ude (12 hours, RUB1,500-8,400), Omsk (25 hours, RUB1,600-4,600), Yekaterinburg (36 hours, RUB2,400-6,600), Perm (46 hours, RUB2,600-7,400), and Vladivostok (82 hours, RUB5,800-20,000).
