Kanker

Kanker is a town in the southern part of Chhattisgarh, India. It is a district headquarter. For most of the colonial period it was the seat of the administration of the eponymous princely state. It is a town that falls geographically in the transition zone between the the northernmost parts of the Deccan plateau and the Mahanadi plains. Surrounded by pretty hills and forests and criss-crossed by streams that are tributaries of the river Mahanadi.The Kanker Palace Heritage, which was the residence of the ruler of Kanker and is now lived in by his descendants, has a guest house that receives discerning visitors who want to explore the region.
