Kangaatsiaq is in Western Greenland.
Kangaatsiaq is the newest town in Greenland, it was officially recognized in 1986. The town is also rather small, with only 552 inhabitants, and has not been visited by very many tourists making it an unspoiled paradise. The best way to get to Kangaatsiaq is to transfer by either helicopter or boat in Aasiaat. In the summer, sailing trips are run more frequently.

In the winter months, some of the best dog sled excursions leave from Kangaatsiaq. Local hunters take tourist out for several day excursions depending on the level of adventure you would like to experience. In the summer, sailing or kayaking at sea is a good activity. There is a good chance to see some whales in the bay during this time of year as well. Given the relative size of the city, with minimal light pollution, this is also a fantastic place to watch the northern lights from, in the winter months they light up the entire sky.
