Jenks

From Wikitravel
Jump to: navigation, search

Jenks is in the Green Country region of Oklahoma. Jenks' landscape is very similar to Tulsa's (it is right next to it) which is green with lots of trees and hills. It is right next to the Arkansas River, Riverparks, and it is near to many of the attractions in Tulsa. It's people are very friendly too, they have that famous Southern charm.

Get in[edit]

It is very easy to get into Jenks since it is adjacent to Tulsa. The Creek turnpike runs through Jenks, and there is a bridge at 96th and Riverside from Tulsa. There is an airport in adjacent to Jenks, but planes from major terminals do not usually fly in, but Jenks is a short drive from Tulsa International Airport with several commercial flights a day to area airline hubs.

Get around[edit]

Public Transit[edit]

There is a Tulsa Transit bus line that runs through Jenks once an hour then goes back into Tulsa, but it is easier to get around by car or by walking.

Bike/ Pedestrian[edit]

Jenks is noted for its excellent bike trails that connects into the Tulsa bike trail system via a dedicated bike/pedestrian bridge across the Arkansas River that extends east to Wagner county and north west into Osage County.

Car[edit]

Since Jenks is a smaller town, they have no tolerance for speeding! The policeman are notoriously known by Tulsans as being sneaky. Jenks is a few miles east of US-75 a highway that runs north into Downtown Tulsa and south into Glenpool. The Creek Turnpike runs right through the heart of Jenks running west to US-75 and then onto the Turner Turnpike which goes to Oklahoma City, and east to South Tulsa then forks off to the Creek Turnpike to Broken Arrow or US-169. There is a four lane bridge that runs into Riverside Pkwy a main thoroughfare of Tulsa
