Jammu Division

This article is about the Jammu division, which is presently under Indian control. For the Indian-controlled part of the entire Kashmir region, see Jammu and Kashmir. For the Pakistani-controlled part, see Azad Kashmir. This is not an endorsement of claims by either side in the dispute.

The Jammu division [1], or more poetically as Panditdesh, is a region of Jammu and Kashmir state in India.

The major spoken language and native language in Jammu is Dogri. People speak Hindi too, and educated people know English, as well. In Jammu city, some schools teach French and German too. People write Urdu too. (Spoken Hindi and Urdu are actually somwhere between Hindi and Urdu. You can't easily distinguish).

Jammu is a place blessed with natural beauty. There are mountains and hills. Some parts of the place is entirely plain but most of it is in the Shivalik range of the Himalayas. Moreover, it is also a tourist attraction because of religion. Here are the places one should see:

  • Ma Vaishno devi temple: You must have heard, " जै माता दी " which translates to ' jai mata di', which is actually of the native language of the people of Jammu, Dogri.
