Itu is in the state of São Paulo, Brazil.

Its population of 150.000 is increased by almost 80.000 on weekends, as people from other cities move into their weekend homes in Itu. It's a nice cosy place that appeals to different kinds of tourists.

Brazilian history passes through this city. The pioneers (Bandeirantes), the farms (coffee and sugar), the Republic (had strong supporters there), first digital money in Brazil and many others.

Itu is 1 hour from São Paulo, and 20 minutes from the International Airport of Viracopos, in Campinas.

The City of Itu is known in Sao Paulo as The city of Giant things, or The city where only the name is short. This mean that oversized things are a recurrent theme in the city tourist spots. There you can find, for instance, an giant-sized public phone, and buy trinkets like pencils the size of a forearm, and respectively big erasers, among other things.
