Iranian Azerbaijan (Persian and Azeri Persian script: آذربایجان) is in the extreme northwest of Iran close to the border with the former Soviet Republic of Azerbaijan.

Iranian Azerbaijan is traditionally inhabited by Turkic-speaking Azeri people.Azerbaijan is a region part of Iran from Persian empire to now but some small parts of it divided by soviet union from Iran and after soviets fall it become a country.

This region, especially the eastern parts of it, is one of the most beautiful places in all of Iran. The region is known for its friendly people and for the great food.

Iranian Azerbaijan is comprised of Ardabil Province, Zanjan Province, as well as the East and West Azerbaijan provinces of Iran.

As anywhere in Iran Persian (Farsi) is widely spoken. The local language is Azari which is fairly close to Turkish; many people are bilingual in Persian and Azari.
