[edit] Lisence of this file

I've created over 100 images based on this file and uploaded to shared: with a {{cc-by-sa-all}} tag. And today, I noticed that this file is currently without copyright information on its image page. It does not match with the Image policy; therefore it should be a license specified. Now I have a question to the copyright holder(s); do I have to change the license tag on all images I've uploaded from {{cc-by-sa-all}} to {{cc-by-sa-1.0}}? If possible, I wish {{cc-by-sa-all}} or {{PD-creator}} selected. Because I and other users like me have to work twice; this time and re-licensing in the future upgrade. -- Tatata 02:24, 7 August 2007 (EDT)

There's a bit of confusion around this issue - the creator wants it to be PD, but some of the symbols need permission from their creators. See the second half of the conversation at Wikitravel talk:Copyleft#The copyleft. -- Ryan • (talk) • 02:27, 7 August 2007 (EDT)
To sum up the copyleft conversation, if you use this template, then the map needs to be licensed as ccbysa1.0, as it contains the WT logo and some symbols created by others which are all ccbysa1.0. You also need to credit them (I think User:Mark created them all). To make things simpler, User:NJR_ZA created a new template, where everything on it is licensed as PD, and it doesn't contain the WT logo. So you might find it simpler for future maps to use that instead: Image:Wikitravel-map-template-PD.svgcacahuate talk 02:57, 7 August 2007 (EDT)
Thank you Ryan and cacahuate. I read the whole thread and I noticed that I didn't credit to Mark! Now I feel as if I'm getting doggy poopy on my shoe. ;=) The problems of my images are my fault anyway, I'll decide in a few days whether to downgrade the license and credit to Mark or to remove cc-by-sa things.
By the way, can I put cacahuate's advice on the image page with a Warningbox? And I also want to replace with or recommend Image:Wikitravel-map-template-PD.svg on Wikitravel:How to draw a map#Get the map template. How about this? -- Tatata 05:42, 7 August 2007 (EDT)
I think putting a note there would be helpful, informing people that it must be licensed ccbysa 1.0. I also wouldn't object if we changed the map template on en:Wikitravel:How to draw a map to the PD version, or at least included it as an option. – cacahuate talk 01:17, 9 August 2007 (EDT)
I am all for just changing the suggested map template, because we are aiming for map standardization and because it is a pain to attribute everyone who has contributed anything to the template, in addition to whatever other sources we use in mapmaking (thank you NASA!). In any rate, I have been exclusively making maps using the PD template. --Peter Talk 01:48, 9 August 2007 (EDT)
I've done both. Probably, I will re-create my maps by using the PD map template. Unfortunately, most of them need to be licensed as cc-by-sa-all (or dual-gfdl-cc-by-sa-any; is it better?) because giving the source of works are required by the terms of use of some data which I use in mapmaking; it's compatible with CC-BY. -- Tatata 03:42, 10 August 2007 (EDT)
