Olympia, site of the ancient Olympic Games

Located in the Peloponnese region, Olympia was the city that hosted the Olympic Games of antiquity, held every four years in honor of the Olympian Gods. Athletes came from all over to participate in the most important sporting event of the Greek world. During the Olympiad, Olympia also hosted a variety of cultural events which also held significant importance and prestige.
