Ilha das Canárias is an island in Maranhão, a few kilometers from the main mouth of the river Parnaíba. It is home to some 3.000 people, most of who congregate in the settlement known as Canárias, or Porto das Canárias.

Regular river transport from Porto dos Tatus outside Parnaíba. A motor launch will do this stretch in some 15 minutes.

The pousada has a restaurant. A quite varied menu, -most dishes for two at around R$ 30.

There is only one lodging, but a private room might be arranged.
