Hezuo

Hezuo is a town in Gansu Province. It is also the capital of Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. Get in Buses from Xiahe and Linxia, which take 2 hours, and buses from Lanzhou, which take 5 hours Get around See Tsoe Gompa (Hezuo Monastery) & Milarepa Lhakhang - monastery complex constructed in 17th century and its most striking building, the Milarepa Lhakhang, which stands 13 stories high. Entrance to Milarepa Lhakhang is 20 Yuan though it is not always open to enter, best to try in the morning. Photos are not allowed inside the building. Do Buy Eat Drink Sleep Gannan Binguan - opposite bus station - closed as of Feb 2013. Gansu Highland Travel - guesthouse to the north of the bus station Lingcheng Minzu Lushe - has 3 person rooms available. Shaoma Hotel - opposite Tianyuan Hotel Tianyuan Plaza Hotel - down street to east of Lingcheng MInzu. Only hotel that accepts foreigners as of Feb 2013. Rooms from 280 Yuan. One member of staff speaks very good English. Get out Buses for Lanzhou (every 30 min from 5:30AM), Xining, Linxia (every 30 min from 5:30AM), and Xiahe. Buses for other towns in Gannan Prefecture.
