Herborn is a city in Lahn-Dill region of Hesse, in the valley of the Westerwald.

Regular services go to Wetzlar (Giessen, Frankfurt) and Siegen (Cologne), and from these cities you have extensive connections on the German high speed train network (ICE).

Herborn is located only 80 km away from the Frankfurt/Main airport, Germany's busiest airport. From the airport, heading to the north (highway route A 5, then change to A45 direction of Dortmund). Or you reach Herborn via the Cologne/Bonn airport, this means about 100 km way south to Herborn.

Herborn has a good connection to the highway A45, the connection between Hanau and Dortmund. Two junctions lead from the A 45 into the City. The federal route B255 from Montabaur (Westerwald) leads to Herborn, also the route B277 connecting Wetzlar with Siegen is leading through.

The main sights of Herborn are: Historic Townscape with many beautiful half-timbered houses, the historic town hall, the romantic market place in the heart of the city, the middle-ages reformed academy Hohe Schule ("High School") today seat of the city museum, the castle (still inhabited by a seminary of the protestant church of Hesse), the more than 1000 years old (protestant) city church and the remainders of the city walls with many towers. Nearby, the bird-park of Herborn-Uckersdorf is located with more than 100 types of local and exotic birds and many other animals, garden-café, playground and many more interesting offers.

Undertake a walk through the city, get a guided city sightseeing - tour (available at any desired day/time, also in English language), visit the bird-park nearby in the district "Uckersdorf", 5 km away from the city centre.

Local specialities are "Schlumpeweck" and "Fastebrezel" in a few baceries and/or cafés. Also, Herborn is famous for good butcher products.

For more than 100 years, the brewery "Herborner Bärenbräu" existed in Herborn. Today you can enjoy a house-brewed beer in the Guesthouse-Brewery "Gutshof" with beer-garden, small playground, hotel.
