Hazen [1] is a small city in Mercer County, in the north central area of North Dakota. It has a population of about 2,457 people. Coordinates are latitude 47.29 N and longitude 101.62 W. Its elevation is 1,743 feet.

Most North Dakota towns owe their names either to someone related to the railroad or the post office. In this case, it is the latter. A. Z. Hazen was the third asistant postmaster general in the early days of the town, which was first settled around 1882.
