Hanmer Springs is a small spa resort in the South Island of New Zealand.

The town is on a spur from Highway 7 between Christchurch and Greymouth/Westport.

  • The town is built around hot springs, called Hanmer Springs [1]. For NZ$12 you can laze in a variety of hot pools, some including smelly sulphur, some filtered which aren't smelly.
