Gunsan

Gunsan is a city inNorth Jeolla Province, South Korea. It is located on the south bank of the Geum River just upstream from its exit into the Yellow Sea. Gunsan is served by frequent railway service on the Gunsan Line from Iksan. It is also connected to the Seohaean Expressway.

Kunsan Air Base of the U.S. Air Force is located in the city. To encourage investment, a free trade zone has also been declared in the area.

Famous people from Gunsan include actress Lee Eun-ju, comedian Park Myeong-su, and Teen Top member L.Joe, who were all born there.

Gunsan is 231.5km from Seoul, 337.5km from Busan, 140.0km from Gwangju, and 47.9km from Jeonju. The most common way to reach Gunsan is by bus or train. Gunsan Airport is serviced by Korean Air and Easter Jet with daily domestic flights to and from Jeju-do.

City buses run frequently to and from the inner-city and express bus terminals. Bus fare is 1,200 won cash and slightly discounted if you use a Cash Bee or T-Money card. Taxi's are plentiful with base fares starting at 2,800 won.

  • Lee Sung Dang is the oldest bakery in Korea. The bakery has been in business in the same location since 1945.
