Scottsbluff

Scottsbluff is a town in the Panhandle region of Nebraska, USA. The geological structure that gives the town its name was an important waypoint on the Oregon Trail and is preserved today as a national monument. The town of Gering is nearby and is included in this article.

Scottsbluff is served by an airport (IATB code BFF) with limited commuter air service from the major hub at Denver. The town is located along US 26, one of the major routes across the Nebraska Panhandle.

Daily dawn until dusk; Visitor Center: Memorial Day-Labor Day - Daily 8AM-6PM; Off Season - Daily 8AM-4PM; Closed Christmas, New Years, and Thanksgiving. Fossils of ancient mammals, Native American history, hiking. There is no camping at the monument, so if you're visiting there, seek lodging in Scottsbluff. Free.  edit
  • Chimney Rock National Historic Site - about 25 miles southeast of Scottsbluff off SR 92.
