Yellowstone National Park North Entrance is just next door to Gardiner, if you do not visit the oldest and grandfather of all national parks, you're missing a lot. Further the Lamar Valley is known as the "Serengeti of the US". It is filled with wildlife all year round, of course starting in May through September is the best times...spring is full of babies, and fall is full of color and rutting seasons. Gardiner still maintains the small-town, Old West feel to it, but can cater to all your needs while visiting the park. Great places to stay, and great RV parks. If you are a wildlife photographer or just follower of wildlife, this is the place to stay to visit Yellowstone.

 * Yellowstone RV Park, 117 Hiway 89 South, Gardiner, MT 59030 (right on the Yellowstone River), 406.848.7496, [1]. Watch the osprey and eagles hunt the river and the rafters negotiate the river during the summer and fall. They start taking reservations April 1st, and are open from May 1 through October - usually the first 3 weeks of October. Make your reservations early to get a river view. This is also a place where the employees of YNP stay, so it fills up early. (latitude,) edit
