Estremadura is a traditional province in western Portugal.Estrmadura does not have administrative status.Currently,the northen section is considered in facto,part of the,central region.The southern section,is now part of the Lisbon region.

Generally safe,some parts of Lisbon(Cais do Sodre,Bairro Alto,train stations) especially @ nite;some dicotheques should be avoided;have mediocre security or none.Do not go to the parks @ nite;take a taxi if needed. Some hotels,pousadas,inns,pensoes are nice.

Tejo valley:Abrantes,Almourol,Tomar(recomemded;Tomar is a beautiful small,but monumental city),Santarem;Troia peninsula,across from Setubal.There is not much to see/do in Setubal city except taking the ferry to Tria(be careful in some Lisbon suburbs & Setubal city).
