Ekurhuleni (also known as the East Rand) is the eastern part of the Gauteng province.

Some of the local airlines are South African Airways , British Airways (Comair)  and low-cost carriers 1Time  and Kulula.com . South African Airways operates a worldwide network from OR Tambo International Airport.
There are a lot of building works currently going on at the airport, including a new high speed train link to Johannesburg. The first section to Sandton in Johannesburg is due to be completed before the World Cup in 2010.
For anyone who arrives and looks lost there are a large number of official and unofficial porters in the arrivals halls and outside the terminals in the area connecting the International Terminal and the Domestic Terminal. The official porters have bright orange uniforms and navy-blue shirts, and carry ACSA permits. They work exclusively for tips: a general guide is to give R5 (five South African rands) a bag.
There are many forms of transport in the in the Ekurhuleni area such as :Buses, or taking a taxi or even just a shuttle to and from the Airport for those short trips which could take you to any part of the East Rand Area which are cost effective, but no more than the Car Rental Market which wont have such a impact on your pocket as there are various options when renting a vehicle.
You are able to rent a vehicle according to your budget, from small to large from plain to luxurious, and there are many car rentals to choose from. There are also only a hand full of Car Rental companies that rent vehicles on a cash car rental basis.
