Eisenstadt is the capital city of Burgenland in Austria. It is a quite small city with 12.200 inhabitants and an area of 43 square kilometers. The city is 182 m above sea level. The capital consists of the three corporations Eisenstadt, Kleinhöflein im Burgenland and St.Georgen am Leithagebirge. Eisenstadt-Oberberg houses the Bergkirche with the mausoleum of Joseph Haydn; Eisenstadt-Unterberg is characterized by the jewish district and the Austrian Jewish Museum.
It's most common to visit Eisenstadt by car.
It's reachable via the A2 (Südautobahn) and the A3 (Südostautobahn) from Vienna. Travelling time is about an hour depending on the traffic situation. Travellers should avoid these highways during the rush hour on work days in the morning (7am-9am) and in the afternoon (3pm-7pm).

There are two airports reachable within an hour each by car: the international airport Vienna and the Airport Bratislava.
While its train network isn't actually that good, Eisenstadt has a pretty widespread bus network. Buses go to all near villages hourly, to Vienna and to the mid and southern Burgenland a few times per day.
