Deir al Qamar (Arabic: دير القمر) is a village in Mount Lebanon.

Deir al Qamar is known for its very beautiful houses with red roofs. It's a a hill town with many beautiful landscapes and views. Deir el Qamar is known as the City of Emirs and is considered the most beautiful town in Lebanon. The town served as the capital city of the country for 300 years in the past and contains with Beit el Dine the three most beautiful palaces of Lebanon . Deir al Qamar is hometown of many historical figures rulers of Lebanon in the past such as Emir Fakkerdine,Emir Bashir Shehab and national modern time politicians such as Camille Chamoun, Naji Boustany and Many writers and philosophers like Fouad Ephrem Boustany and artists like Camille Allam .

Get in[edit]

You can get to Deir el Qamar through the coastal road from Beirut to Damour then take the path upward to the Shouf mountains

You can get also to Deir el Qamar taking the international Beirut-Damascus highway passing through Aley and Saoufar then go right down to Barouk

Another way is to come from the Beqaa and descend to the Shouf taking the Dahr el Baidar road passing near the Barouk Cedars
