Dapto is located 20 minutes south of Wollongong in the coastal region of Illawarra of New South Wales, Australia, immediately to the south of Sydney. It has much history starting from 1945 when it was changed from Tarrawarra to Dapto.

To get to Dapto, catch a Cityrail train from Sydney on the Illawarra South Coast line. You can also catch a plane to the Illawarra Regional Airport at Albion Park then catch a bus to Dapto.

You can get around Dapto by walking because everything in the CBD is very close and convenient.

Lake Illawarra: Catch a Bus from Dapto Mall. Go and watch the Dapto Dogs at the showground.

Dapto Mall, Dapto Leagues Club and the Community Centre provide a variety of things to do. There is an annual Street Fair every September on Fathers Day. Following that is the Dapto Show. There are sometimes special shows like Monster Trucks etc during the year. Sunday mornings there are the 'flea markets' where one can find great bargains.

There is a Big W located in Dapto Mall, along with Coles, Woolworths and many specialty shops.

Dapto Mall's foodcourt has a Subway along with other eateries, and El Comida is a delicious Mexican Restaurant located on Baan Baan Street.
