Dakhla Oasis is an oasis in the Western Desert of Egypt.

Dakhla Oasis has a typical desert climate: it is extremely hot in the summer and quite cold in the winter months.

By plane[edit]

  • EgyptAir and domestic aviation companies operate regular flights from Cairo to Dakhla. For information call Cairo 6350260/70.

As of january 2011, there seems to be no more regular, civilian flight service to and from Dakhla Oasis.

By bus[edit]

  • West Delta Bus Co. phone: 5759751, fax: 5795730 arranges regular bus trips to Daklha Oasis from Cairo Turgman Terminal.
  • Upper Egypt Bus Co., phone: 2609297, fax: 2608820 oprates daily busses from Asyut to Dakhla, departure at Asyut at 8am, arriving at Dakhla at 3.45 pm, EGP 8.00 (2008).

Dakhla Oasis is 740 km from Cairo, 200 km from Kharga Oasis, 230 km from El Farafra, 410 km from Bahariya Oasis and 760 km from Siwa Oasis.

Get around[edit]

There are 5 busses per day from Mut to Balat and Bashindi, between 6am and 3pm, and 4 busses per day from Mut to Qar and Maghoub, between 6am and 5.3opm.

  • Ethnographic Museum, (next to the cinema). The museum follows the ground plan of a traditional Islamic house with women's quarters and public men's rooms. It contains pots, rugs, dresses, baskets and jewelry used in Islamic times and pictures showing scenes of everyday life. For admission call the Tourist Information Office  edit
