Cianjur is a non-touristic city in West Java.

Cianjur has around 150.000 inhabitants. The city itself consists mostly (around 65%) of farmers. Since Cianjur hasn't been touched by the touristic business, yet, foreigners are still a rare sight within the city.

From Jakarta: Buses are leaving regularly from Kampung Rambutan for 26.000 Rp/40.000 (Non-AC/AC). It takes around three hours to get to Cianjur.

From Bandung: Buses are leaving every 30 minutes for 14.000 Rp.

  • The "Cianjur Adventure Program" (see below: Sleep) offers opportunities for voluntary work, helping teaching English to the local students. This is a great way to get into contact with the local population and is very appreciated by them.
