Chonchi is a city in Chiloe Island. There are a few churches, a cemetery and a small habour. It's 20 km south of Castro. There is a tourist information on the intersection of Sargento Candelaria and Centenario.
There are plenty of buses to/from Castro. Buses going to or coming from Cucao will also pass through Chonchi as well as buses to/from Puqueldon on the island of Lemuy.
It's a small town. Everything is walk-able.

On the main square in front of the church there is a hostel. There are also a few hospedajes around.
Island of Lemuy: From Chonchi you can take the bus/ferry to Puqueldon and once or twice a day to Andachildo on the island of Lemuy. On this island there are 3 Unesco churches in Ichuac, Andachildo and Detif. In Puqueldon there are 2 hospedajes. It's also good for mountainbiking as there are quite a few dirt roads with not much traffic. Unfortunately bikes can only be rented in Castro. There is also a park called Parque Punta Lima.
