Chimay is in Belgium, near the French border.

Since the 1850s, the Trappist monks in Chimay have produced beer and cheeses to support their order. The beer (also named Chimay) has become one of the most well-loved beers.

  • In addition to the beer, the village has lent its name to four varieties of cheese. The Chimay à la bière (Chimay cheese flavoured with Chimay beer) is a particular and unique treat for cheese lovers.
