Central Plains is the central region of Thailand, an endless plain dominated by the giant urban agglomeration of Bangkok.

- Ayutthaya - ancient capital built from red brick
- Bangkok - Thailand's largest city by far, a sprawling metropolis of wealth, squalor, culture and sin
- Hua Hin - Thailand's oldest beach resort, now hip again
- Kanchanaburi - gateway to the foothills of Western Thailand and site of the Bridge over the River Kwai
- Lopburi - known for it's khmer temples and crab-eating macaques
- Nakhon Pathom - Thailand's oldest city and site of the world's largest stupa
- Nonthaburi - the second largest city of Thailand, actually a suburb of Bangkok
- Phetchaburi - provincial city infamous for political assassinations
- Rangsit - Bangkok exurb known mostly for its huge shopping malls

- Bang Pa-In - eccentric royal palace to the south of Ayutthaya
- Damnoen Saduak - picture-perfect floating market on tourist steroids
- Ko Kret - rustic little pottery island to the north of Bangkok
- Thungyai-Huai Kha Khaeng Wildlife Sanctuaries - the largest in South-East Asia, a UNESCO World Heritage site
