Carleton is a village in Monroe County.

Platted in 1872 and incorporated in 1911, this village was named after a popular Michiganite poet named Willian McKendree Carleton (21st of October, 1845 - 18th of December, 1912) or Will Carleton for short. It's an agricultural community with an operating grain elevator that also has several small businesses and restaurants.
