Carbost is a small village in Skye.

Get in[edit]

Car or walk. Take the B8009 from the A863, which goes to Dunvegan. After a short distance, follow sign left to Carbost.

Get around[edit]

You will have no difficulty in finding the distillery where the well-known Talisker whisky is made. [1]. You can then follow the road to the very fine Talisker Beach.

If you do the tour at the distillery, enjoy your free sample - but unless you have some atavistic desire to buy a bottle there and then, sad to say you will do better at a supermarket!

  • Langal B&B, 9 Carbostmor, Carbost, Isle of Skye, IV47 8ST (On the right as you enter Carbost, from the main road just before the church.), +44 1478 640409, [2]. checkout: 10:00. You feel most welcome, both when you arrive and during you stay. The rooms are pleasant and well furnished with their own basins. The shower is generous and there are facilities for drying your hiking or climbing gear. With a fabulous view over Loch Harport and with Norma being quite able to teach good houskeeping to an expert this is a superb B&B. All is well maintained too. £30.  edit
  • Phoenix House, Carbost (right in the village next to the shop). A very comfortable B and B very close to the pub in the village. Three double rooms and a cracking breakfast  edit
