Capel Curig

Capel Curig is a village in Gwynedd, popular with climbers and hillwalkers due to its location in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park. There is an important road junction here, where the A5 continues between the Glyderau and Carneddau mountain ranges to Bangor and the A4085 turns further south to Llanberis.

Capel Curig is on the historic A5 London to Holyhead trunk road.

By train[edit]

The nearest station is at Betws y Coed, 5 miles away.

Moel Siabod is a lovely peak rising from here.


  • Plas y Brenin[1] - the National Mountain Centre. 01690 720214. Offers courses in Hillwalking, Rock Climbing, Kayaking, Canoeing, Orienteering, Skiing and more. The centre has a pool, climbing walls, ropes course and a dry ski slope.
