Buscalan is a town in Kalinga.

It is very friendly and the hike up is 40 minutes breath taking. Old traditional houses are still intact. Life here is very simple and happy.

Get in[edit]

You will need to get a guide ask information in Bontoc at Pines Kitchenette and Inn or Ridgebrooke Hotel. You can use Pike Soria as a guide (ariadne766@yahoo.com 09126742182 ) in Bontoc as he speaks the local language while guides from Sagada do not. You will take a jeepney from Bontoc for about an hour then hike another 40 minutes mostly uphill. Best recommended do via Bontoc route for shorter trip.

  • Whang Od, [1]. Truly an amazing woman and the clear highlight of the small town. She does many different tattoos. Be warned the technique she uses can be painful but you will get a unique souvenir from your visit to the Kalinga Mountains. 1000-2000 Pesos.

If you bring any live chickens up there they will be happy to slaughter it and serve it to you. The people are very accommodating and if you stay the night will likely cook you supper and make coffee.
