Brac is in Croatia
Brac is a large island in the Adriatic sea, just off the coast of Split. In Landscape, Brac is similar to its well known neighbor Hvar with its rolling hills, pine and fig trees, isolate bays and clear water. Brac has 2 larger towns (Bol and Supetar) from where you can catch a ferry to Split (from Supetar) or catamaran ( passengers only) to island Hvar (from Bol).
Snakes are aplenty on Brac, in particular in the Milna area. Locals will strongly discourage you to wander into the wilderness without what they call a Knueppelsk (a chunky wooden stick).
Each townlet and village on the Brac island has its own dialect but many people speak English, German or Italian, especially if working in tourism.
Split has international airport with many low cost airlines departing from European destinations. Also possible to reach Split with train. Take a ferry from Split to Supetar (50 min) or Makarska to Sumartin (30 min) Timetable of the ferry is published on the following link: Bus schedule from Supetar to other places on the island:
On Brac, in almost every place, it is possible to rent cars, scooters also quads and bicycles to explore the island.
Buses run throughout the island. Most go to or from Supetar. Sample price: Milna-Supetar round trip 40 kuna per person. For any connecting service (Milna to Bol through Supetar), buy the ticket online (autotrans.hr). Despite what the website says, the ticket office says all drivers should be able to scan mobile tickets on the bus. Drivers will NOT sell connecting service and you could end up paying twice as much as you should. Ticket offices will not convert/exchange tickets.
