Les Quais (The Quays) follow the shores of the Garonne, Les Quais were initially Bordeaux harbour, at the time it exchanged goods mostly by sea. Today, they are being renovated in order to provide tourists a nice visit.

The Quais are situated north of the railway station, on both sides of the river. You can reach them by foot or by bus (line 1).

• The Aquitaine bridge, to the north of the Quais, is the biggest bridge built in France, and will remind you somehow of the Golden Gate. You can't cross it by foot - take a bus...
• The Pont Neuf is the oldest bridge of the town, and is very nice too. You can cross it by foot to reach the eastern side of the Quais.
• The Colbert is a military battleship, now too old for fighting, located on the Quais close to the Quinconces. It is possible to visit it all the year round.
• Young people practice roller-skating and skate-boarding stunts north of the Colbert.

• Take the River bus, a ferry which crosses the Garonne and will lead you very close to the Aquitaine Bridge,
• Walk on the shores, get to the Eastern side which is really nicer (as the roadworks go) than the western side.

The Colbert has a restaurant. There are several more places on the shores where you can buy food.

Bars and clubs are located on the southern part of the Quais, very close to the railway station. A lot of different places, with very different atmospheres.
