Belmont is located west of Charlotte, in the south-central part of North Carolina. It is most easily accessed by either I-85 or NC-74.

Belmont's most prominent sight is the Gothic architecture of Belmont Abbey College. It is viewable from NC-74, and worth a brief side trip.
There is a 1950s-style drive-in movie theater on the outskirts of town. This attraction is both extremely cheap and fun, especially as a family or date activity.

The Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden is located in Belmont. This large outdoor garden attracts tourists from around the region, and is especially attractive during the springtime.
