Bardhaman is a district in West Bengal.

Bardhaman district is divided into two parts - the larger eastern part is often referred to as the "granary of West Bengal" and the western part is a mining-industrial belt.

The Grand Trunk Road (NH 2) runs right across the district. There are numerous other entry points for the district. The main Howrah-Delhi rail track cuts across the district.

  • Steel plants in Durgapur and Burnpur, adjacent to Asansol.

  • Bardhaman town is famous for two sweetmeat items -mihidana and sitabhog. There are plenty of shops selling these items on Grand Trunk Road and elsewhere.
  • Saktigarh is famous for a sweetmeat - langcha. Shaktigarh is the place where the Durgapur Expressway coming from Dankuni, near Kolkata meets the Grand Trunk Road. There are rows of shops selling langcha.
