Bairnsdale is a town in the East Gippsland region in the state of Victoria, Australia. It has a population of about 10,000.

Access to Bairnsdale by train returned in May, 2002. Trains run several times per day to and from Melbourne's Southern Cross Station (formerly known as Spencer Street Station). The trip takes approximately four hours and costs around $50 each way.

Bairnsdale is situated on the Princes Hwy approximately 3.5 hours east of Melbourne.
