Back Roads and Beaches Multi-Sport Route is in Lorain County, located in north central Ohio between Sandusky and Cleveland.

[edit] Understand

Lorain County Heritage and the Lorain County Visitors Bureau developed the Back Roads and Beaches bike and multi-sport tour of Lorain County in 2007. The route consists of rolling, rural roads with beautiful scenery ranging from farmland and forest to the nautical flavor of the Lake Erie shoreline. The Back Roads and Beaches route was formed to provide scenic and low-traffic roads and bike paths that lead riders through some of Ohio's best landscape. The route highlights some of the area's most relevant history, culture, arts, and cutting edge environmental initiatives. You'll find the entire route has bright green bike route signs to guide you easily on your way.

[edit] Map

The Back Roads and Beaches route takes cyclists and other multi-sport enthusiasts on a vigorous, scenic, and fun tour of Lorain County's most gorgeous natural offerings and historic towns. The route is composed of one main loop running between Oberlin and Vermilion, as well as a north/south loop running between Oberlin and Wellington. For those interested in the waterfront experience, Rt. 6 extends along Lake Erie. Also depicted on the map are the Lorain County Metropark Bike Paths, which are also open to Back Roads and Beaches riders.
